DETECT.IT - the detective of the future, but at what cost?
When the Bureau of Investigations rolled out their AI sleuth, DETECT.IT, they did so to a fanfair of high hopes and grand promises. The lives of those working in Justice would get easier, and the streets of the Nation would be safer.
Five years down the line and detective Jane Doe is doing every she can to cling to the old world.
The promises made were false.
The improvements, hollow.
Making up the vast majority of the remaing detectives, Jane and her partner, John, are ferried to cases across the Nation to gather data for their AI superior, apologise to victims, and make false assurances that results would soon come.
It has become an existance of running into brick walls and calling it a job well done. One that was taking its toll on them both.
Then comes a case in Jane's childhood haunt, the resort town of Blighton. A place where heads spin in the sun and old wounds open up in the salt air.
A place that sends them both backwards, in order to move forwards.
